The Puerto Rico Islanders will face the Miami FC Blues for the first time in the 2010 USSF D-2 Pro League (D-2) next Wednesday, June 2, in the Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamón at 8:00 pm.

Prior to the start of the Puerto Rico Islanders game the Metro League will stage the Male U-17 Final between Club Deportivo Barbosa and the Conquistadores de Guaynabo. The game is set to start at 5:00 pm.

The Islanders, the 2010 Caribbean champions, have 6 points in 5 games with 2 wins and 3 losses. The Islanders have played between 4 and 6 games less than the other teams in the USL Conference.  The leader of the USL Conference is the Austin Aztex with 20 points in 9 games.

The Puerto Rico Islanders could obtain 12 points from the four games not played in comparison with the Aztex, which would be enough to secure the second position in the USL Conference with 18 points.

Colin Clarke, Technical Director of the Puerto Rico Islanders, commented on the 2-1 loss against Tampa Bay on May 29th:

“The red card changed the game. Until that moment, we were playing well. I have not seen the video of the game, but the red card seemed harsh. But it seemed that until that point, everything looked fine.”

To questions regarding the Puerto Rico Islanders game against Miami, Colin responded:

“This team (Miami) is different than last year. They have signed good new players. We (Islanders) need to stay positive. Silly individual mistakes have cost us in the last games. But the team looks good and we have not lost our confidence.  We look forward to the game. We need to start picking up points”

For the Puerto Rico Islanders, these players will not be able to play:

Noah Delgado (injury), Joseph Salem (suspension) and David Horst (suspension)
