The Puerto Rico Islanders will be facing the Carolina RailHawks tomorrow, Wednesday May 26 at 8:00pm in the Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamón. This will be the Islanders fourth game in the 2010 USSF D-2 Pro League.

In the game, the Puerto Rico Islanders will pay tribute to the Metro League with the 26 teams that made the finals this year parading prior to kickoff time . The Metro League is the biggest youth soccer league in Puerto Rico. More than 2,200 boys and girls play in the league starting with the U-5 all the way to U-17 divisions.

The Puerto Rico Islanders are in last place in the USL Conference, with 6 points in 3 matches, but they have played between 4 and 6 games less than the other teams. The RailHawks are next to last in the NASL Conference with 5 points in 5 games.

Historically, the Islanders have faced the RailHawks 8 times. In these, the Islanders have won 6, tied 1 and lost 1. In the Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium, the Islanders have won all 4 games played, scoring 9 goals while only conceding 1.

Noah Delgado, captain of the Puerto Rico Islanders, had this to say:

“They (Carolina RailHawks) are a good team. They have not gotten good results, but I know several of their players and they are good.”

“We come in having played high intensity games in the CFU Championship. We had a little break but now it’s time to work. We have been tested (in CFU) and we look forward to the league.”

Joshua Hansen, who has started the 2010 season in great form, agreed with his captain:

“Definitively the RailHawks has a slow start.  But it you look at their roster, it is practically the same team they had last year, and last year they where good.”

“The team (Islanders) is confident and we are anxious to play after the break.

Hansen also had this to say to all the Islanders fans:

“It is important that our fans go to the games. This (Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium) is a great place to play and the crowds here really pumps up this team.”

The ticket office at the Rubén Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon will start selling game tickets tomorrow at 9:00am.  All boys and girls 17 or younger can attend the game at no cost by wearing their soccer club shirts to the game.
