BAYAMON – The Puerto Rico Islanders will try to maintain their season alive Sunday afternoon when they host the Rochester Rhinos from Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium starting at 6 p.m. The Islanders, for the second year in a row, will have to come from behind in order to advance to the semifinals of the USL-1 division. Last year, the Rhinos and Islanders faced each other in the semifinals, with Rochester grabbing a 2-0 lead in the first leg of their series, before the Islanders came back at home to tie it up and eventually win the series 3-2 in overtime in aggregate goals. Last Thursday night, the Rhinos won the game 2-1 to grab the series lead. The Islanders need a favorable score on Sunday evening to try to advance to the semifinals of the USL-1 playoffs. Puerto Rico will be without defensemen Cristian Arrieta who received a red card on Thursday at Rochester for elbowing a player early in the contest. Arrieta leads the Islanders in goals scored. In two games in Puerto Rico, the Rhinos posted a 0-1-1 mark. The Islanders this season have the best record at home in the league with a 11-1-3 mark. On the other hand, Rochester recorded the most wins in the league on the road with eight. The winner of this series between the Rhinos and Islanders will advance to the semifinals of the USL-1.
